A little insight into Me

I’ll admit I’ve been a bit slack on the personal posts recently, I’m barely managing to get my Sunday Scrapbook posts up every week even! I think this is mostly because I am spending time each week editing our family ‘week in the life’ style vlogs- and although they’re never that long it still takes time… mostly because I have to edit out my swears! Anyway, this week we’re not doing a weekly vlog because we just fancied a week off, plus nothing exciting is happening till this weekend! So instead of that here’s a little Q+A type post so you can find out some things you never knew you wanted to know about me! Thanks to Laura for tagging me.

So here we go…

When was the last time you cried?
Proper actual drippy tears I have no idea, I don’t cry often at all! I got a bit prickly-eyed at last Sunday’s ‘Call the Midwife’ when you know who died. But before that genuinely no idea!

If you were another person, would you be a friend of yourself?
I *think* so. I always try and be a good friend to people for as long as they make some effort in the friendship too! I try and be helpful when friends need it, even if it’s from the other end of the phone.

Do you use sarcasm a lot?
Does a bear crap in the woods?

What’s the first thing you notice about people?
Their shoes probably. Not in a a judgey way, I just really like shoes, always have done!

Scary movie or happy endings?
A bit of both probably, I prefer thrillers to be honest.

Favourite smells?
Cinnamony-clovey smelling candles (Winter from The White Company is a perfect example) and I also really like fume smells, like when you accidentally spill diesel on your hand when you’re filling up the car…

What’s the furthest you’ve ever been from home?
South Africa, I did a road trip from Johannesburg down to Cape Town via Jeffreys Bay and the garden route. It was amazing, I spent three weeks there and would love to take the kids to Cape Town one day.

Do you have any special talents?
Not really! I can pick things up with my toes, and also see question 1 aka ‘heart of steel and never cries’

Where were you born?
A suburb of south London, though we moved away quite soon after that.

What are your hobbies?
Reading and sleeping. I try and read a book a week, and have always loved reading, so it’s a been a hobby for life!

What did you want to be when you grew up?
A Vet. In fact I remember writing down ‘I want to be a vet’ about 15 times on a piece of paper thinking it would come true! When I was a bit older at secondary school I thought I might quite like to be a funeral director.

How many countries have you been to?
Ireland, Wales, Scotland, France, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Turkey, Cyprus, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Israel, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Egypt. Nineteen then, 20 if you count England.

What was your favourite/worst subject in School?
Science was the one I disliked the most, along with history because it was all modern and mostly German on the syllabus! I wanted to know about ancient history! I enjoyed Drama and Music, but strangely the way the subjects were set out I had to do Drama as a tenth GCSE as I couldn’t choose music AND drama to do within the regular timetable, so myself and a few others stayed for two hours after school every Tuesday to do it! I got an A though so it paid off!

What is your Favourite drink?
Tea, then anything with elderflower in!

What would you (or have you) named your children?
Araminta or Seraphina were the names I loved when I was a kid for my future potential kids… my kids are now called Athena and Arlo (Sam chose Athena and I chose Arlo)

Who are some of your favourite YouTubers?
I’d love to watch more YouTube but I don’t often get the time these days, but I really like watching the perfect ‘American Mom’ style channels; who have amazingly organised everythings… lives, kids, pantries! A girl can dream haha!

Favourite memory from childhood?
Oooh, I don’t know! I think it would be all the summers when me and the other kids who live in my road played outside from dawn to dusk. Not like these days really!

How would you describe your fashion sense?
Not very smart! Pre-kids I never wore jeans or trousers, always dresses. These days I might wear a dress over leggings at a push…

Tell us one of your bad habits!
Leaving things till the last moment probably! Though I’m very rarely late for anything, as that is a bad habit I hate in others!

And I would love it if these lovely bloggers would fancied answering these questions too… Sarah from Toby Goes Bananas , Sara-Jane from Keep up with the Jones Family , and Eilidh from Just Eilidh.

  1. Thanks for the tag – I’m just about to finally get round to writing my post! Your trip to South Africa sounds amazing – I’d love to go there one day. I always notice people’s shoes too – I have a bit of a thing about bad shoes, especially on men. Genuinely one of the reasons I split up with my boyfriend at sixth form was because he wore terrible shoes!
