A walk in the park

On a sunny day last week Sam and I went for a little stroll in the park estate just behind the village where I grew up, the perfect chance to wear my new dress from Joe Browns. You’ve probably heard of them before, they’ve been around since I was in my late teens at least, if not before! Back then I remember getting their mini-catalogue in issues of Kerrang and Q! They sell fun and quirky clothes to suit a few different styles. Lots of things are similar to what I remember being available from my teens, handkerchief hem dresses and laced up bodices, but they’ve also got lots of gorgeous tea-dresses, patterned jeans and gorgeous jackets and blazers too (amongst other things!) which are much more my style now, ten years on.

I was kindly given the opportunity to pick a couple of items from the Joe Browns website, and after a long umming and ahhing session with a cup of tea I decided on the ‘gorgeous garden party dress’ and the ‘ladylike lace pump’ trainers. I am very much a pumps and dress kind of person and although I looked at all the pretty sandals I know realistically with our weird weather I’d get a lot more wear out of them year round… A rose gold accent peeps through the cream lace, and I absolutely LOVE them. Plus with pumps there are no straps or toe posts to rub, always a bonus for my ridiculously sensitive feet!

The dress fits perfectly and is perfect for warmer weather as it 100% cotton, a gorgeous duck egg blue with green trim. The skirt is lined so it hangs well and isn’t indecently see through like so many dresses out there these days. Plus with adjustable straps, and the ruched back panel means you can get a really comfortable fit.

I didn’t realise that they also have an outlet section on their site too, with some pretty hefty discounts, along with a current offer of buying two dresses and getting £10 off, so once i’m back at work and earning an income again i’m sure I’ll be back! Anything in this style of dress is a winner in my book, flattering in all the right places and can be worn casually or smart.

You can view the full range of both dresses and shoes on their website, and even though many of their styles are pretty unique and not what you would find on the high street I defy not to find something (or things!) that you love! Here’s a picture of me pratting about on a tree, just for fun! I also really need a hair cut I think!

  1. I used to buy things from Joe Browns when I was in my teens too, I completely forgot they existed, but this dress isn’t the kind of thing I remember them selling, it is so pretty too! Is my Bday next month so I think i’ll go have a look for a dress there.
