For the last few weeks I have been feeling increasingly overwhelmed. With everything. Blogging, housework, day to day chores, freelance work, preparing proper meals for us, the house buying, and even looking after myself. I can’t remember the last time I managed to dry my hair and comb it through after washing it, or apply moisturiser even! My baths are always cut short by Arlo waking unexpectedly, so I end up in bed feeding him with wet knotty hair that fall asleep with. So when my laptop decided to break last week my first reaction was ‘what the bloody hell am I going to do NOW? I’ll be even more behind with everything!’ and then as the day wore on the idea of having a little bit of a break, a little bit more me time quite appealed!

With my laptop went all the pictures I’ve taken since I got it in January, so everything of Arlo, his birth, all his firsts. I’m thankful I’ve uploaded a few of them to the blog and to facebook. On it were all the review photos I’d taken too, I was really good about transferring them to my laptop from my memory card but never backed anything up from my laptop to cloud/external harddrive! I have sent the laptop off to see if any of the data can be retrieved before it gets sent back to Acer to be fixed properly (thank god it was still in warranty) but until I know what can be saved I just have to start again. I am already feeling bad about the couple of reviews that were meant to be up this week that will be delayed whilst I try and take photos good enough from my phone, and then have to get posts written on my tablet or phone, neither of which it is easy on, because my blogs hosting company have barred the wordpress app, so I have to do it all in a browser and it is bloody fiddly and errors and I’ve lost work doing it in the past.

So I’m having a bit of a break, I’ll get the posts up that I have promised as soon as possible and thankfully had scheduled a few so it won’t be too sparse but I’m going to not take anything else on till I know when I’ll be back up and running. I will still upload as and when but most importantly I am going to take time for ME, and Athena and Arlo too as I won’t be distracted by drafting posts in my head or replying to emails. I’m going to read books in the evening and get a few early nights, and enjoy cooking some more elaborate meals, and enjoy eating them too!

Sam is working 60ish hours a week at the moment in the run up to opening his new hotel so we’re not seeing much of him at all, so really my laptop breaking couldn’t have come at a better time for me to impose a bit of a break and spend some quality time with him too, when he’s around and not asleep.

It means there will be no #WhatMyKidDid linky, aka Arlo’s 8 month update and I’ll get even more behind on reading and commenting on other peoples blogs because we all know how much of a faff it is commenting from a phone! I’ll still be over on Instagram though, so feel free to check in with us over there!

If you got this far through this brain dump of a post have yourself a biscuit as a reward, you deserve it!

  1. What a pain in the backside! But like you said, it’s obviously happened for a reason so take this time to have a well deserved break (if you can count not having the blog but still being a mum a break)! I also hope your data hasn’t been completely lost.

Will look forward to your return and reading what you guys have been up to!

  2. Oh, I hear you! Fresh from a mini melt down myself today! So much to do, so little time. It’s the eternal mama dilemma isn’t it?! I think sometimes we have to let things slide a little and realise it’s ok… The world still turns, and everyone still gets fed ? (Except maybe mama ? !) xxx Crack open the biccies indeed, we’ve earned them ? Xx
