Mama loves: #LFHelloBeautiful box

look fantastic beauty box

I spend very little time (or money!) on my beauty routines since having children, it’s a far cry from having boxes and drawers full of lotions potions and makeup like I had pre-kids! However I still love to have a little pamper session when I can fit it in, and still care about looking after my skin and treating it right! I’ve not subscribed to any beauty boxes for about 5 years now but was given the chance to try the May box from Look Fantastic and was glad that I did! Not only did I get a pretty box full of beauty and hair care but I got a copy of Elle magazine before it hit the shops and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it in a warm bubble bath too!

Revlon Uniq One All In One Hair Treatment – I was a bit disappointed with this, it smelt lovely and coconutty but I honestly didn’t notice it doing anything different to my hair but that might be because the sample size just wasn’t enough to make a difference to my excessive amounts of hair, its fine but there is a lot of it! It does contain UVA and UVB filters though so it probably helped to protect my hair in all the sun we had last week!

Wet Brush – Favourite item hands down. An easy-to-spot bright orange this is designed to detangle wet (or dry!) hair and I was jealous of Athena’s kid sized one already so now I have my own full size one (worth £11.99)! Better than a tangle teaser as it is cushioned and the bristles (so far) haven’t bent or pinged off like my haggard old tangle teaser (relegated to the back of the drawer!)

looklook fantastic beauty boxVichy Liftacitv Supreme – Definitely my second favourite item in the box, a generous 15ml tub of this rich moisturiser and I’ve found a little goes a long way! Designed to target fine links and wrinkles this little pot is my new best friend, and I love that it is paraben free so great for sensitive skin.

Decleor Intense Nutrition Cream – I’d not tried Decleor before but need heavy duty moisturisers for my dry nose and forehead and although i’ve only been using this at night for a few nights it’s made a difference already as i’m not having to moisturise as much in the morning! My sample size is almost out so I’ve added it to my ‘need to buy’ list

IOMA Youthful Moisture Cream – Seven little pods, the perfect amount in each pod for one application so no mess and no waste. These help to increase the collagen in the skin as they’re infused with soya and cotton oil. I’ve only used one as I want to keep them for travelling with as they’re perfect for it!

Eve Lom Cleanser and Muslin Cloth – A sample size of the cleanser with a very handy muslin cloth. I’ve not used this yet as I’ve got two cleansers on the go at the moment, and like to save little samples like this for nights away!

Ren Wake Wonderful Night Time Facial – An overnight treatment containing glycolic and lactic acids to brighten skin tones. This is applied after cleansing at night to wake up with plumped up skin, working in three phases as you sleep. My skin definitely felt nice in the morning but I wouldn’t say I looked any brighter than when I went to sleep!

So overall I was impressed with the contents of the box, although I think one of the face products could have been swapped for another hair care product to balance it out a bit. I liked the little magazine that came with the box explaining some background info for each item and touching on some of the other lines available on Look Fantastic. It’s definitely worth the £15 one of fee, and if you subscribe to 3/6/12 months you can get each months box as low as £11.25. This one was worth it for the Wet Brush & Elle Magazine alone! I’d definitely order myself one off boxes in the future, at the moment I don’t have the budget to subscribe each month (got to feed the kids and buy them pretty clothes!) but as a treat box every few months it’s such a good idea for busy mums who really need a treat, and non-mums who need a pamper too!

You can find out about the Beauty Boxes from Look Fantastic, and follow them on twitter for updates. They’re holding a twitter chat too this Thursday (19th May) from 7-8pm

  1. Ah this looks fantastic! I have so little time available to even think of pampering for me that this would be an ace investment – that hair brush looks great! x
