Treads School Shoe review

31st July 202031st July 2020

Although school  seems like a distant memory  for Athena it’s only a matter of weeks  until she’s back  at school, a new junior school in fact!  So that means new uniform, bag and shoes! This year she’ll be wearing Treads ‘Alberta’ shoes, which are a leather mary-jane style with a velcro strap, which is her preferred style.… Read More

Keen Kids Shoes Review

12th June 201910th February 2020
Keen kids shoes review

[Gifted shoes in exchange for a review] I am always on the lookout for shoes that are both comfortable and supportive for the kids, and at this time of year being breathable is a big bonus. The kids have been putting a pair of Keen shoes through their paces for a couple of weeks now… Read More

Pretty dresses & bluebells

10th May 201923rd February 2020
David Charles Girls Dress

Athena might the sort of girl who loves scurrying about in the woods, waving sticks about, looking under logs for insects and making dens but given the choice she’d much rather do all that in a dress! So where better to head in a very pretty dress that she picked from the selection at David… Read More

What the kids wore: Bright & Bold with shopDisney [ad/gifted]

19th March 201910th February 2020
disneyStore kids clothing review

This post features gifted products from shopDisney, though all words, opinions and photos are my own. Arlo looks up to Athena for so many things, if he’s unsure of himself he will look to her and mimic whatever her reaction is… fairly annoying if it’s food related as it means he won’t try anything she… Read More

Back to School: Start-Rites Toughest Ever School Shoes

28th August 201810th February 2020
Startrite-launch-school-shoes-1

It only seems like a few weeks ago I was buying everything from Athena’s uniform list for starting primary school, and suddenly here we are a just over a year later (because I am not half as organised this year as last!) checking what fits and re-purchasing things she’s outgrown. The list of things that… Read More

What Athena Wore in Bluebell Woods

4th May 201810th February 2020

It’s finally bluebell season! Last Saturday we took a late afternoon stroll around the bluebells in Angmering Park estate. It’s always an a stunning sight to behold, and each year they never fail to amaze me with their colours, and Athena has a new dress and necklace that she was more than happy to show… Read More

Dressing up with Vegaoo

23rd February 201810th February 2020
kids-fancy-dress

When Athena started preschool I was quite pleased to find out that things like World Book Day, where you have to come dressed as a character from your favourite book wasn’t really a big thing however now she’s started at school I’m feeling the pressure slightly! Next week on Thursday the 1st of March the school… Read More

Starting School: School Uniform Tips & Picks

5th June 201710th February 2020

The time has come, I need to start thinking about school uniform for my little school starter! I don’t want to leave it till the last minute and risk not being able to find what we need and I also want to give Athena time to practise getting dressed and undressed herself to make sure… Read More

What the Kids Wore: Jackets & Hoodies

4th May 201710th February 2020

Arlo is at the height where a lot of his 18-24 month clothes are too small, but his age 2-3 sized things swamp him. It’s so frustrating that brands can’t just match sizing across the board as some things in 2-3 are okay and other brands he’s still got lots of life left in the… Read More

We would've done another walk today (Sam had a day off today too) but our boiler is kaput and we didn't want to come home to a cold house so we stayed in and shivered on the sofa instead!
Also before you come at me for getting in the car to drive to exercise: we live in a flat with no garden on a busy road- we could walk to the beach but I can guarantee we would have seen LOTS of people on pavements on the way and then hundreds (literally - the prom is so busy!) at the beach. Much as I love 'jumper season' I'm over this frost Much as I love 'jumper season' I'm over this frost. Our boiler sounds like it's struggling as it whines more than Arlo does when he hasn't eaten in an hour. Much like the rest of you I imagine, I'm feeling a bit numb and fed up right now. I also can't shake this cold/cough (been tested, not covid) and it's been lingering for 3+ weeks now. I fall asleep at the drop of a hat too, like a little old lady and find it hard to get up in the mornings. I just want spring time, normality energy and clear nasal passages IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK?

I've been outside more today than I have for the f I've been outside more today than I have for the for past week. We've basically been hibernating since Christmas eve apart from the odd trip to the shop up the road. Today I walked round Devils Dyke with a friend early in the morning and then went to the beach in the afternoon for the kids to let off some steam. The sun setting was gorgeous and it made me realise I'd missed the sea as I'd not been in ages! Anyway, one more day at home tomorrow (inset day for us!) And hopefully back to school Tuesday but we'll see. For us its the right decision as my children thrive on routine, and I thrive on being able to work without distraction or having to try and teach them!

Happy New Year!

What day is it? What's the date? Pass the tin of c What day is it? What's the date? Pass the tin of celebrations please? When did Arlo get so good at putting Lego sets together on his own? Is this the first year I didn't get a book for Christmas? Should we actually leave the house at some point? Can I be bothered to stay up and ring in the new year? When will we be able to see our friends? How long will tier 4 last? Will there be a 5? How many cups of tea have I had today? When will the cat stop attacking our ankles? Is it okay to take the tree down today? But can I leave the lights up round the picture rail forever?

Answers on a postcard please. Hope you're all okay.
