Seeing as Christmas is two weeks away I thought today would be a good day to answer a few Christmas questions! Polly from Our Seaside Baby tagged me to answer the questions below…

What’s your favourite Christmas Movie?

It’s got to be Home Alone, but I do also have a soft spot for Love Actually!

Where do you usually spend your holiday?

At home, as normally Sam has worked a Christmas day shift but this year we’re off to spend Christmas with his mum in Norfolk!

What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?

Anywhere snowy, preferably a log cabin in the middle of a forest, with lots of wood for fires, hot chocolate, books and my family!

Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?

Now I have kids in the morning, as I don’ think they’d wait till any later! Before I had kids we did them in the evening or late afternoon, not that we really ever have many!

Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?

Is it sad that I don’t really? I have a few Christmases I’d like to forget! I do remember going for a swim one day when we spent Christmas in Spain!

Be honest: do you like giving gifts or receiving gifts better?

Definitely giving! Picking and wrapping gifts is something I really love to do!

Favourite festive food?

Proper roasties, done in goose fat with lots of crispy bits! Also pigs in blankets…

Favourite Christmas scents?

Spiced apple, and the way a real Christmas tree smells. They’re building some new flats on my road and this week they’ve been (sadly) cutting down the fir trees and chipping them and the smell is divine!

Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?

We put out a mince pie and some milk for Santa on the plates the kids made, but we don’t have anything else specific like a Christmas Eve box or anything like that!

What tops your tree?

Currently it’s a shiny blue star

Have you ever had a White Christmas?

No I don’t think so! I did have a White birthday once which is just a month later! We got the day off school and everything…

What is your favourite Christmas song?

Fairytale of New York by The Pogues. I also love We Three Kings and Carol of the bells – especially the Pentatonix version:

Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

It’s artificial this year as we’re away for a week over Christmas and I didn’t want to come home to a load of needles and a droopy tree! Also as we’re in a flat with no garden it makes disposing of it at the end of Christmas a bit of a ball-ache!

Are you a professional present wrapper or do you fail miserably?

Definitely not a pro… my neatness gets less and less as I go on!

What makes the holidays special for you?

Time with family and time to do a bit less work and read a few more books!

I’d like to tag these bloggers to take part too:

  1. I’m loving these posts at the moment – they’re a wonderful reminder that there’s no right or wrong way to celebrate Christmas. I’m also enjoying reading about how everyone celebrates Christmas – I’ve even scored a few ideas!

I didn’t know you’d spent a Christmas in Spain – I can’t imagine being hot or on a beach at Christmas!
