For obvious reasons, many people are opting to stay at home this year rather than go on a planned vacation somewhere exotic. Some people are still going, and that’s their business. However, if you want to have total peace of mind and stay home – but still have some quality time with those you love without having to worry about work, school, or anything of the sort – then it’s time to plan your perfect staycation 2020. The benefits of taking some time off to relax and recharge yourself are untold! Read on for some ideas that will almost certainly inspire you:
Try Camping
If you want a staycation but you want to get out of the house, camping could be the ideal way to do this. Camping is affordable and can give you the opportunity to unplug from technology and everything stressful going on in the world right now. Just try not to feel too tempted to check your phone, the news, and other things that will make you feel gloomy. No campsite near you? Don’t worry! You could even camp in your backyard. Just pitch a tent and have some fun in the garden. If there’s a caravan park near you, you could always rent out a camper and get away for a few days for a more luxe camping experience. You’ll have so much fun getting back to nature and there’s no need to travel too far from home.
Be A Tourist In Your Hometown or City
Why not make plans to be a tourist in your hometown or city? There are bound to be ways to discover new neighborhoods and places to enjoy. If you do your research you’ll likely find local museums, nature spots, historical places, art displays, gardens, and more. You’d be surprised at what you’ve neglected to check out in your area before now.
Try Hello Fresh For The Week
If you need to stay home but want to have more time to yourself with barely anything to worry about, why not sign up to a service that will deliver fresh ingredients and recipes right to your door? You will be able to put together delicious, healthy meals with all of the ingredients delivered to you, so you barely have to think about anything. You certainly won’t need to put together a meal plan for the week! You might even be able to find a few days or a week at a discounted price. Check it out and you’ll almost instantly have one less thing to worry about.
Have An Arts and Crafts Night
So, let’s say you’re not leaving the house but you want something fun to do that you can get lost in. How about having an arts and crafts night? Grab a load of materials and see what you can put together. You could do some pour paintings as a family, or maybe you could build something from scratch for your decor, such as shelving made from vintage crates. Get creative and see what you can put together!
Create Your Very Own Spa Weekend
Alternatively, if you just want to relax and forget everything (we all know crafting and DIY can be hard work), then why not have your very own spa weekend at home? Dim the lights, put on relaxing music, buy some special products, and just go all out and relax. You might not want to buy expensive products but purchasing them will be very cheap compared to actually going to a spa or away on vacation. Just treat yourself! The superior formulations and ingredients will help, whether you buy a moisturizer or a hair mask.
Have A Beach Day
If there’s a beach nearby, plan a beach day. There are all kinds of things you can do on the beach if you’re worried about getting bored. You could go on a treasure hunt, play ball games, read, have a BBQ, or even fly a kite. You could fill the entire day with fun activities and not get bored. See what you can come up with!
See What Free Events Are In Your City
There might even be some free events in your city that you can enjoy. Maybe there’s a movie or film festival, a farmer’s market, an art show, a craft fair, or something similar. You could even look into nearby cities if there’s nothing in your own place. You will usually be able to find plenty of little events in nearby places, so do your research. You don’t need to go to a huge famous music festival to have fun!
Bring A Destination To Your Home
If you really want to get creative and feel like you’re away, bring a destination to your home. Whether you want to visit Hawaii, Paris, or Rome, get the supplies and do it! You can eat the food, grab some special desserts, buy some wine local to the place of choice, and just enjoy yourself.
Try A New Exercise Class
How about a brand new challenge? Do something fun, like a dance or zumba class. Just do something different that you’ve never tried before and aim to have as much fun as possible. You might just meet new people and find a new hobby.
Host A Film Festival At Home
Don’t worry about putting on actual clothes for this – host a film festival at home! This is the ultimate lazy day, and you get to watch an abundance of films with people you love! Let everybody choose a film, or pick a series and watch them all in one go. You could watch Harry Potter, Star Wars, Indiana Jones – whatever your heart desires. Make it your very own cinema experience.
Go To See A Show
See if there’s a show in your town, perhaps a musical, theatre show, or some other kind of performance. Seeing these things live is always so much better than watching them on TV. The atmosphere is electric and can’t be beaten!
Do A House Swap
Swap houses with a friend even just for the weekend. This way, you’ll both feel like you’ve gotten away for a while, even if you did only swap places. Just remember to agree on a few things first so that there are no fallings out – are any rooms off limits? Should you both change the beds before handing the houses back over? Aim to make one another’s lives as easy as possible.
Spend More Time Outdoors
This could be the perfect opportunity for you to spend more time outdoors. Go hiking, or kayaking, or do something else outdoorsy. Be active and take in nature all around you!
Refresh Your Decor /p you to feel like you’re in a brand new space. Maybe you could add a fresh coat of paint, or even just swap your furniture around for a quick fix. Either way, you’ll change up that feng shui and you might just love it! Perhaps you could create a new little area in the house to enjoy, such as a reading nook, or even indoor hammocks that you can kick back and relax on.
We may not be back to normal just yet, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make the most of it. Nobody knows when we will be back to ‘normal’, or if we will simply have to accept a new normal. Taking some time away from it all to recharge and relax is key at a stressful time like this. How are you going to spend your staycation in 2020? Leave a comment!
