Smoothies are something I really love on work days, I have to be out of the house by 6.15am and I walk the 25 minutes to work so something I can take with me for the journey is perfect because it means I can spend 5 minutes longer in bed if I don;t have to sit down at eat breakfast! I stick Chia seeds in a lot of things but always in smoothies, as they are so good for you; helping digestive health, helps your body regulate hydration and also contain 9 essential amino acids amongst other things! So Arla’s Choose Goodness breakfast idea number two for this week I’ve perfected a smoothie recipe that anyone can rustle up in minutes!
Banana, Berry & Chia Smoothie
Ingredients: (makes enough for two servings)
2 cups of semi skimmed Milk
1 ripe frozen banana chopped into chunks
Handful of Summer fruit berries (fresh or frozen)
2 tablespoons of chia seeds
2 heaped tablespoons of Skyr Yoghurt
Drizzle of Agave Honey
Method:
Pop it all in a blender and pulse for ten seconds, then check consistency. I prefer my smoothies nice and thick but just add a dash more milk in you prefer it easy to suck up through a straw!
I use white Chia seeds purely because they look prettier. You can experiment with different berries, and different flavoured yogurts. Honey Skyr works really well in smoothies, and no need to add extra (unless you want to, which I do!) Arla also do yoghurt drinks which are a lot runnier and perfect for on the go snacks, but also work brilliantly in smoothies!
