Fisher Price Bright Beats Dance Mat review #BeatBoBoogie

You know when you’ve spent the whole weekend away camping, and you have a couple of loads of washing to do, a car to unpack and a house to tidy and you really need to not have two small people under your feel whilst you do so? Normally I would have them attached to me, trying to ‘help’ but I had cunningly hidden a new toy away when it arrived for this very occasion! New from our favourite toy makers Fisher Price is the Bright Beats Learnin’ Lights Dance Mat! Featuring a favourite character Beatbo in the centre the mat is fun and educational at the same time.

Designed for use from 9 months up to around 3 years children can sit, crawl, stand and dance on the mat. The bright colours light up around the centre console, which is where the on/off and settings switch is. Then there are four bright buttons to press and of course Beatbo himself to bat and and spin around. As you can see each side of the mat has colours, shapes, numbers and actions on and these coincide with the directions that Beatbo gives. Sensors on the sides of the central console mean that when your child follows the instructions and goes to the right side of the mat Beatbo knows and congratulates them!

There are two play modes: Move and Play where interaction is encouraged with the four buttons, helping listening and learning the alphabet, colours, numbers etc. There are also lots of favourite nursery rhymes to sing along to. The second mode is Dance and Learn which is great for following instructions and getting active! Currently at 17 months old Arlo mainly plays on the first mode, bashing buttons and spinning beatbo about, chasing the lights and also just lifting the mat up and dragging it around with him! It’s definitely his new favourite thing. Athena at 3 can follow the instructions, knows where to go and what to do perfectly, and she still loves playing with it! Both the kids prefer to bash the buttons with their feet but it’s so sturdily built that it could probably withstand them both jumping on it at the same time!

It requires four AA batteries (that come included) and has two volume settings.

To help celebrate the launch of this new addition to the Fisher Price repertoire they’ve launched the #BeatBoBoogie! Incorporating all the Bright Beats toys (like the original Beatbo) and if you head over to www.Facebook.com/Fisher-Price you can see Kimberly Walsh and her daughter Willow showing off their moves and encouraging us all to get active during playtime. You can share photos and videos of you and your happy little dancers and be in with a chance of winning some great Fisher Price prizes!

We were sent the Fisher Price Play Mat for the purpose of this review.

  1. Oy my gosh, this looks AMAZING! I’ve always been such a huge fan of Fisher-Price toys and feel a little sad that my two are getting too big for them. They would have absolutely loved this Bright Beats Dance Mat and i love the fact the sensor picks up the child’s movement and congratulate/rewards them! xx
