I know, we’re still wearing big thick coats, fluffy socks and chunky boots as it’s still super chilly in post parts of the new year but I am so fed up with winter clothes and layers, gloves and hats that I’ve been dreaming of a spring wardrobe. I’ve been trying to stick to a capsule wardrobe so have put together the items I think would work well for spring time, along with a few pieces that would remain from my current capsule wardobe. The items that would remain would be a long sleeved stripe top, a smock dress, trainers and a grey jumper.
I’ve been scouring some of my favourite clothing websites for some inspiration, and I think spring should be all about nice layers, but things you can actually see as they’ll not be hidden under thick coats! I love the two cardigans from Boohoo, the cream one with the floral detailing would go well with plainer T shirts and the pink ribbed one would work well with the logo T shirts. I love a chunky cardigan, and way prefer them to coats! Always keep your eyes open for a Boohoo discount code too, for even more bargainous prices! The tops I’ve chosen here are a mixture of plain and logo, as I’d keep another couple of plain tops and a breton striped one from the last season, but felt that some design/colour would be good for spring.
For the bottom half I thought a nice midi skirt would be a good transitional piece, probably starting the spring off wearing it with tights and boots and hopefully finishing it with bare legs and sandals! This ‘paper bag’ style skirt is from Miss Selfridge but a tip for Miss Selfridge (and Dorothy Perkins!) is to search about online as lots of other retailers stock some lines, and then if you search for discount codes for Debenhams you can get a bit more of a discount too! I’d be keeping a pair of burgundy jeggings and a pair of straight cut jeans from the last season, so adding two pairs of skinny jeans would bring the total of ‘bottoms’ up to five, with some smart options too. The pinafore dress will be one of the dresses in this seasons capsule wardrobe, and I’d keep a plain bottle green dress too, which again can be worn with tight or without when it gets a bit warmer!
Lastly for shoes I’m keeping a pair of trainers from last season and then adding styles similar to these three. The boots would look great with tights or jeans, and the black loafers would be nice with a dress and ankle socks. The bow topped pumps would be great with trainers and a top on school run days, easy to slip on and go!
If you’re a capsule wardrobe sort of person I’d love to know what you’re planning for spring!
