How to Design a Wedding Scrapbook

collaborative post.

It’s easy to solely store precious memories on your phone, but a physical display feels more sentimental – especially when it comes to your wedding.

Along with a dazzling engagement ring, fairytale dress and beautiful venue, why not invest some time into curating a romantic scrapbook that you can look back on in years to come?

Plan and gather materials

It’s easy to get carried away with creativity, but planning out your album is fundamental to get a finished product your completely happy with.

A leather or hardcover book with acid-free paper is preferable, as this will limit unattractive damage, ageing and yellowing. Borders, frames, ribbons and a multitude of appropriate coloured card are also vital to add vibrancy.

Take time to draw out a rough layout with a pencil and ruler so you have a good idea of where you want to stick everything. Try to imagine a theme that will be prominent throughout, such as Hollywood glamour or vintage eclecticism.

 Select and organise photos

Your wedding photographer is sure to have snapped some stunning shots. Selecting ones that tell the story and maintain the aesthetics ensures you make the most of them.

A consistent chronological sequence is recommended too, as this will help you fully reminisce when flicking through in future years.

For example, a range of pictures that feature you getting ready and the guests arriving is a great place to start, followed by the ceremony itself and the reception. Of course, the main photos are your couple and family portraits, so make sure to emphasise these with artistic flair.

Incorporate memorabilia

To make your scrapbook unique, you should attach treasured keepsakes. The entire process of your marriage can be documented this way too – starting from the day of your proposal to the evening of your wedding.

Dress material, invitations, placeholders, flowers and any other object that evokes a poignant memory can be utilised to add tangibility and dimension. Always use strong adhesives such as double-sided tape or glue dots to guarantee everything stays in place.

Add creative embellishments

Consider the addition of some handwritten notes alongside your photos and artwork for a nostalgic edge. Dates, vows and thank you notes will add depth and sentimental value to your album.

A great way to do this is by asking your friends and family sign a guest book during the reception. This way, you can read through them afterwards and pick your favourite memos. Whether they are humorous or heartfelt, they are bound to transport you back in time to the best day of your life.
