The Busy Family’s Summer 2022 Health Guide

For many households, the summer equates to extra family time. With schools out and many workplaces offering reduced schedules, you may have spare time to get out and have some family fun. Unfortunately, summer colds and illnesses can compromise that fun. Keep reading to learn how to keep your family healthy and happy on your summer adventures this year, whether you want lifestyle changes or tips for vitamins for 1 year old toddlers.

Keeping Good Health During Summer Travel

You have a lot of choices when it comes to healthy summer adventures. However, incorporating one or more of these strategies can help increase your chances of keeping the whole family healthy and fit.

Stay Active

The human body is designed to be active, regardless of your age. That means everyone can potentially benefit from getting up and moving more. Instead of planning sedentary summer family adventures, look for things to do that keep everyone moving around. Taking a hike, playing disc golf, or swimming at the beach for a few days are excellent ways to have fun and stay healthy.

Get Enough Rest

While it is good to be active, you also need to get enough rest to fuel all that movement. For most adults, that means about seven or eight hours of sleep each night. However, kids need more sleep than adults — sometimes significantly more.

Unfortunately, in an attempt to make the summer more fun, you may do more harm than good if you let bedtime routines go out the window with summer weather. Lack of sleep can compromise the immune system, leading to more frequent or severe illnesses. Baby multivitamin packs are one option, but it’s also a good idea to stick with a regular schedule as much as possible so everyone is rested and ready for adventure.

Drink Lots of Water

Ensuring you take in enough fluids every day can be a daunting task. However, once you stop for a moment and think about how your body is a little more than half water by volume, it is easy to see why staying hydrated is so essential to good health.

Most people can start with the suggestion of eight glasses of water daily. However, very hot temperatures or activities that cause heavy perspiration will demand more fluid to replace what is lost.

Don’t Overindulge

While it is excellent to sample new flavours while traveling around, you don’t want to go overboard. Too much of a new food can lead to stomach upset, especially in kids’ sensitive systems. Instead, limit new foods to small portions and gradually add larger ones if everything goes well.

Vitamins & Supplements For Summer

Vitamins and supplements are an excellent way to keep your family healthy and fit while traveling this summer. They can support normal body functions and replace vitamins and minerals that are lost during busy activities. Organic vitamins are also a great way to ensure you are meeting nutritional needs if you decide to sample unfamiliar local foods.

Be sure to follow basic healthy lifestyle principles, such as staying hydrated, getting plenty of rest, using supplements, and staying active, during summer travels.
