Pretty dresses & bluebells

David Charles dress review

Athena might the sort of girl who loves scurrying about in the woods, waving sticks about, looking under logs for insects and making dens but given the choice she’d much rather do all that in a dress! So where better to head in a very pretty dress that she picked from the selection at David Charles Children’s Wear [sent for review] than our local woods!

It took Athena more than a little while to choose a dress from the Spring/Summer collection on the website as there are just so many stunning styles to choose from! Eventually she’d narrowed it down to two and did ‘eeny meeny miny mo’ to choose and picked an Ivory and Pink Teadress and we both love it!

It’s a gorgeous lace material with pink floral accents dotted all over. The lace is quite chunky, almost doily-like and the skirt is circular with a scalloped hem which flows beautifully when twirling and swirling! The dress is fully lined and has a concealed zip in the centre of the bodice at the back. Cute little capped sleeves finish it off perfectly!

The quality is brilliant, with all the hems finished properly and securely, and the lace and pattern on the bodice is perfectly aligned to show it at its best. Athena has already decided to wear it to wherever we go for her birthday and to some upcoming friends parties too!

Athena is just going into age 7-8 sized clothes (even though she’s not 6 yet!) so I picked age 8 for her after checking the height chart, and it fits really well with room to grow without looking baggy or too long. I probably won’t be letting her rush around in the woods again in it but miraculously she didn’t fall over it get it grubby and I love the bluebell photos we got too!

  1. It’s our granddaughter’s birthday in June and I’m thinking I may choose the Scarlet Red Frill Back Dress
    Product code: 2125D

Thank you for the fab giveaway

  2. My girls are that little bit older and choose their own clothes, but I think the Black polka dot frill dress would be a favourite with us all.

  3. There’s too many nice ones to pick from but I love the Pink floral perfume gown. It’s beautiful my little one would look too cute in it!!

  4. I’ve spent ages looking at each and every piece on the site. Everything is gorgeous and what a tough choice to pick just one item! I’d pick the Ivory and Pink Floral Maxi Dress. Love it in both this and the Royal Blue, but the Ivory and Pink just pips the Royal Blue to the post.

  5. Athena looks beautiful in her dress! I think I would go with the Blush Pink Ruffle Party dress for my husband’s granddaughter, as she has a special occasion coming up and this is totally her style! But they have so many cute styles, it is hard to choose!

  6. I know my little girl would want the royal blue floral dress as her favourite colour is blue. The dresses are absolutely beautiful what an amazing competition

  7. My daughter would look lovely in the Blue Frosted Prom Gown, we’ve got a couple of weddings & christenings to attend this year so it would be perfect.

  8. There are so many pretty dresses, I would pick the Ivory Butterfly Bridesmaid Gown for my daughter who is a flower girl for my cousin in August – she is going for an ivory theme, so this is just perfect.

  9. I love the royal blue tea dress and also the maxi dress in that material. Athena’s choice is gorgeous too. I love them all but I would go for the tea dress.
