Fashion: 3 Summer fashion tips

With summer coming up, you’re probably going to be digging through your wardrobe and packing up any clothes that don’t fit the hot season. You might look at fashion magazines and websites for inspiration, but you’ll find that most of them talk about high-end fashion and very rarely budget options. In fact, they might even look down on cheaper options and it could give you a skewed perspective on fashion.

If you want to put together an affordable and fashionable outfit, then here are some tips to help you out.

Stop looking at big-name brands

Avoid looking at big high-street brands. Instead, focus on value options. There are plenty of places to get cheap lingerie and fashionable dresses if you do a bit of research and look around. For example, buying online gives you a lot of choices and there are plenty of comprehensive returns policies that will help you in the event that you buy a size too big or too small. If buying online isn’t an option, then taking a look through local boutiques can help you find something inexpensive and beautiful for a low price. They might not have every size available, but you’re guaranteed to find something a little more exotic for the summer.

Give yourself a boost with creative accessories

Whether it’s rings, necklaces, hairpins or a scrunchie, accessories are like toppings on a cake. They’re not necessary, but they add plenty flavour, colour and taste to an otherwise bland outfit. Try and match the accessories you have with the colour of your outfit. Don’t wear too many large pieces and focus on complimenting what you’re wearing. For example, if you want to show off a lovely necklace that is big and bulky, then mute your clothes by wearing something simple. If you only have a few basic accessories that don’t stand out, then compensate by wearing more complicated patterns and a wider array of colours.

Take better care of your clothes

Budget fashion often doesn’t have the same construction and quality as high-end fashion, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make the most of it. To take care of your summer fashion, make sure you steam your clothes and get out all of the wrinkles to make it look more expensive. If you have buttons and other accessories on your clothes, then replace them with fancier alternatives to make it your own. While budget clothing isn’t expected to last as long as high-end options, you can easily make it last longer by simply taking better care of it. If you store it correctly and wash them properly, they could many summers.

Budget outfits shouldn’t be seen as poor alternatives. Instead, think of them as playful expressions of fashion. For the price of a single expensive high-end garment, you could buy dozens of shirts, dresses and accessories that can be mixed and matched to create the perfect summer outfit. Learn to experiment, do a bit of research and create your own fashion sense instead of blindly following others!
