What the Kids Read: May faves & Monster Party

For the past few weeks the kids have been reading these three books on rotation. Well, they can’t actually read – so I’ve been reading to them and they’ve been looking at the pictures and reciting along where they’ve picked up the words!

what the kids read

You can’t go wrong with Shirley Hughes books – they’re always just so simple and lovely and the illustrations remind me so much of my own childhood too. My mum found this one in a charity shop actually and I’m glad she got it on the off chance that we didn’t have it! Alfie Gives a Hand  sees Alfie off to a birthday party and drags his blanket with him, then realises there is another party goer who is really sad and needs cheering up too.

Say Please Little Bear is one Athena picked at a car boot sale, they’re so great for getting kids books in bulk! It’s a super sweet story that gently reminds little bear to be polite, which is always a good thing to remind little people about! It acted as a good talking point after the book about manners and what to say to who and why!

what the kids read

Monster Party is a fun rhyming board book (so Arlo proof) that follows a little cute monster to a party, and we see his escapades whilst there. He’s sad when the party ends but he opens the post to find another invitation, hurrah! Arlo especially likes this book as he loves to say ‘Monstahhh’ every time I read ‘monster’ – which is a lot! The illustrations are really lovely too.

I’ve also got two copies of Monster Party to give away too, good luck!
