Kaleidoscope have just launched their A/W14 collection, which is full of stunning pieces, from boots to biker jackets. I was asked to choose something I loved and then style it in three different ways. I chose this Scenic Print Dress, which has a gorgeous autumnal nature print, but jazzed up with blues and oranges. The black back is a great contrast so the dress isn’t too ‘out there’. A slouchy fit means it’s comfortable to wear, it did come with a camisole stitched in at the shoulders but I removed this so I could wear the dress in a few ways without being restricted.
Style one: Tucked into skinny jeans and worn with Birkenstocks. Perfect for a stroll round the park with family or a trip into town for a shopping trip.
Style two: Teamed with a baggy cardi, tights and flats. Perfect for a weekend lunch with friends or a casual party
Style Three: Worn pulled in at the waist to define it and shorten the dress, add heels and a little coordinating clutch bag for a much smarter look. This is what I’ll be wearing for my next date night, though by the time we arrange it I’ll probably need to wear tights! I think a cropped leather jacket would top this outfit off perfectly too!
I think I prefer it dressed up outfit three, but that’s because I like any excuse to dress up these days. Realistically I think it’ll be outfit two that gets the most outings, with thicker tights and some biker boots as the weather gets colder!
I’ve also put together some tips to help the transition from Summer to Autumn:
- Lighter jackets like Blazers are perfect for the change from Summer to Autumn, worn with the sleeves turned up and easy to fling over one arm if it’s warm!
- Layers are key! I often wear a long sleeved top under a summer dress, or wear an unbuttoned shirt with a chunky cardigan over the top for layers that I can easily remove
- Adding opaque tights and ankle boots to what would normally be a summer dress is an easy way to make a seasonally appropriate outfit, and extend the life of your favourite dress!
- Scarves! Need I say more? Floaty printed scarves are a must before you have to turn to the thick wooly snoods that December requires… worn loosely or wrapped round, or even tied to the handles of your bag!
I couldn’t resist a browse through the rest of the site either, and these two items caught my eye, especially the boots with their bronzy leather and suede!

Thank you to Kaleidoscope for offering me the chance to review an item from the A/W14 collection, I was provided the dress to style for this post.
It looks lovely with a belt – outfit no. 3 is definitely my favourite xxx
I actually love the first ‘casual’ look but that’s because I never wear dresses! I had never even thought about wearing a dress as a top, but you make it work!
