When you’re travelling with children jetting off to exotic tropical islands may seem like a challenging feat. Many people assume that the world’s island paradises only cater to adults, but this doesn’t have to be the case. Tons of islands around the globe actually serve as perfect destinations for family getaways. So don’t feel like you are limited when it comes to your next family trip- consider booking flights for the whole family to one of these kid-friendly islands.

Tagaytay, Philippines

The Philippines caters to travellers of all kinds, so whether you are a nomadic backpacker, a honeymooning couple, or a family with several children you’ll find something to keep you busy. As far as catering to families goes, One of the best spots is in the city of Tagaytay located on the island of Luzon. This is considered to be one of the best family-friendly destinations in all 7,000 islands of the Philippines. The kids will love spending a day at the Sky Ranch Amusement Park, with tons of fun rides for the young ones and stunning views for the grownups.

The whole family should take a ride on the park’s Sky Eye, the tallest Ferris wheel in the Philippines – and maybe the best place to get panoramic views of the island. Another popular activity to do in Tagaytay is visit Picnic Grove for an outdoor barbecue lunch. It is another great spot for stellar views, and the kids will love the nearby zipline and horseback riding adventures. Also be sure to check out the island’s impressive zoo – Paradizoo – as well as Puzzle Mansion, People’s Park in the Sky, and DreamWorks DreamPlay.

 

Kauai, Hawaii

Out of the eight major Hawaiian islands, the most family-friendly is most definitely Kauai. Much of this island is covered in lush rain-forest, but there are also tons of beautiful beaches for both children and adults to enjoy. You could easily spending the majority of your trip to Kauai building sandcastles and splashing around in the crystal clear waters surrounding the island, but there are also plenty of tourist attractions that the kids will love.

Lydgate Park and Kamalani Playground is a tourist and local hotspot for families with young children. The beach here is ideal for swimming since it has several enclosed areas for safety, and there are lots of shady areas for protection from the hot Kauai sun. The area is also home to Kamalani Playground, which might just be the coolest play area you have ever seen. The gothic style wooden architecture resembles a huge castle with just about everything to entertain the kiddos. There is even a designated area for younger toddler age children. You’ll get a true taste of Hawaii here; the playground integrates things like volcanoes, landscape, and even traditional Hawaiian music.

 

Puerto Princesa, Philippines

Puerto Princesa is another perfect Philippines family destination, especially if you’re hoping to explore the outdoors as much as possible. It is located on Palawan island in western Philippines and is known best for its natural beauty and diversity of land and sea creatures. The best way to explore the natural wonders of the island is to take a day trip to the Subterranean River National Park. This underground river is just over 8 kilometers long and you will start by floating into the mouth of a cave by kayak or canoe. As you paddle through the river, you’ll get the chance to see the unique limestone formations before you float out of the caves and into the sea.

For families wanting nothing more than to enjoy the azure waters surrounding the island, head to Grace Bay Beach for the day. This is the ultimate place for watersports such as swimming, kayaking, snorkelling, and paddle-boarding. The area surrounding the beach is lined with shops and restaurants of all kinds, perfect if you need a break from the sun.

While visiting Providenciales, you have an opportunity to turn your trip into a fun educational experience. There is so much wildlife to explore and become familiar with around and within the island, so take the kids on an eco-tour to learn about the marine life and land animals that are native to Turks and Caicos. There is everything from wetlands to forests here, and don’t forget about the diverse array of fish, corals, turtles, stingrays, and sharks just offshore.

 

Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands

Grand Cayman in the British territory of the Cayman Islands is one of the most stunning tropical paradises in the Caribbean. Stingray City is a huge tourist draw, and for a good reason. There is a shallow sandbar north of the island that is home to over 100 stingrays, and the kids will love hanging out with these friendly sea creatures. The rays are extremely used to human interaction, so there is no danger involved in swimming with them – no matter how big or small.

Starfish Point is another great spot to bring the kids, where the shallow waters are dotted with red starfish. The water is only about a foot deep, so it is a perfect adventure even for young children. After Starfish Point, check out the Island Wildlife Encounter at the Turtle Centre. The  mission of this centre is to release as many turtles into the water as possible and give them the best shot at survival. These experiences and more are what make Grand Cayman the ultimate destination for a family adventure.
