A DIY Weekend To Transform Your House

You don’t need to spend a fortune or weeks and weeks with workers to transform your home. If you can set aside one weekend and follow these simple tips, then you can give your home a new lease of life and freshen it up. You don’t need to redecorate your whole house but adding a few little touches, and some new and unique accessories will give it a brand new look, and you’ll get excited about your home again.

Give Your Home A Fresh Coat Of Paint

A fresh coat of paint makes a world of difference in freshening up any room. Either a different colour or even just a fresh coat of the old one can brighten up your room and make it feel new again.

Let There Be Life

Adding plant life to your home is excellent for maintaining air quality as well as adding an organic element to your decor. Choose plants which you can grow indoors and ones which don’t require much effort to start with. Then as you become better at looking after them, you could start to become more adventurous with your plant choices.

Get Organized

While you’re sorting out your home, you may as well organize and while you’re down at the shop you may as well get a few bits to help you make life easier for yourself.  Buy things like chalkboards and pinboards to keep everyone organized, more storage, a shoe rack and hooks for bags and coats. Small accessories like a dish for your keys or a letter stand for the post can also keep things tidier and more organized as well as looking good.

Light It Up

It’s not always that obvious how much of a difference lighting makes to your home until you do it. Make sure you have lots of light sources such as table lamps and floor lamps throughout your home as this will increase the elegance. Industrial lighting is an interior design trend right now, and this can modernize a room completely. You could also get techy and invest in some smart light which you can turn on by clapping your hands or have them on timers. Look into smart light bulbs which allow you to remotely turn them on, off, dim them, and even change the colour depending on what brand you buy.

Accessorize

Think of throws and cushions as makeup for your living room. The best thing about them is that you can change them depending on your mood or what season it is. So if your room is feeling a bit dull, try adding a few different coloured and patterned cushions to uplift your room. Get some beautiful throws and rugs which don’t have to be expensive, but again will add colour or change the colour and theme of a room. Also, inexpensive and unique art or antiques are a great idea and even fun to look for on the weekend and don’t forget to put some photos up!
