Interiors: festive home decor

I’ve finally started making our home feel festive! I feel like the world has started putting up their decorations earlier than normal this year, I spied a couple of trees on my instagram feed in November would you believe? Anyway, what with all the illnesses we’ve been enduring, and the miserableness of Sam being in a car accident (nothing too serious, thankfully!) I decided to get on with it and instil a little Christmas Spirit in the house!

We have started to buy a few classic style decorations each year with the idea that when we can eventually have a big tree one year to display them all on, which won’t happen until the babies are older and we have more space! So for now I hang them up in a garland on the wall, and this year they’ve been joined by a few extra touches! The Merry Christmas garland is lovely, and if our front window was on street level I think I’d pop it in there on public display actually! Each letter is hand printed and strung onto red twine, and in true me-fashion I stuck it to the wall with silver washi tape, above my mis-matched decoration garland!

When I can be bothered to clear off the accumulated bits and bobs from our dining table ready for our festive dinners I’m going to hang these from the lampshade above it (and remind my tall husband not to clonk his head every time he sits down!) They’re hand made ceramic

I’ve even started wrapping (we seem to have accumulated a lot more presents for Athena than I realised, so I thought I’d get a head start!) and these gorgeous gift tags, printed in a chalkboard style and go perfectly with my red and gold reindeer paper! Although I’m not wasting these on Athena’s presents as I don’t think she’ll be paying much attention to the wrapping if i’m honest! They’re designed by Fitzjohn & Stone, the same people who hand-make the garland above.

And lastly what makes you feel more Christmassy when wrapping presents than eating homemade gingerbread men and sipping hot chocolate from crockery with reindeers on!? I think this little dish would be perfect for leaving a carrot out for Rudolph on Christmas eve too!

All these festive fancies came from the Country Living general store which is full of delightful treats, and not just Christmassy ones! With everything from bedding to food and everything in between! All the products are carefully chosen to be part of this online marketplace, and the rule is that if it wouldn’t make onto the pages of Country Living magazine you won’t find it in the store!

The browsing process is made easier as you can view all items from a specific designer, or filter down to what you’re looking for specifically. The ordering process was easy and I was impressed with the speed of delivery, considering that things were coming from different suppliers, and as well as all major cards you can make payment by PayPal which is a big plus for me!

I was provided with some festive items  from Country Living in order to write this review, all opinions remain my own.

  1. Those mugs are amazing and I love the garland. And the ceramic decorations. And the gift tags. OK, I love all of it. Very glad to hear Sam is ok! Xxx
