Maternity style: Frugi Nursing dress

Hands down the most comfortable dress I’ve worn this pregnancy is this gorgeous dress from Frugi. Not only is it comfy now but it has discreet nursing panels so that I can continue wearing it once the bump has become a baby! I love the pattern, bright bold florals on a navy background. I really wish these photos had a nicer background actually, but a combination of Sam working 8 hours on/8 hours off for three days this week and me doing my last three shifts at work before my mat leave starts have meant that we’ve been like ships in the night, and sadly I think letting Athena loose with my camera to attempt to take a photo would end in disaster!

The dress has capped sleeves so will be perfect as the weather gets warmer and into the summer, though at the moment I’ve been styling it with a thick cardi, tights and boots. Under the bust is a thick smocked section that gives support and a nice nipped in shape, and the cross over neckline helps to conceal the nursing panels on each side for easy breastfeeding access. The cotton is super soft and the 5% elastane means it give for extra comfort. I chose a Medium which is a 12-14, and I think the sizing is pretty accurate. The cut of the dress means that even when the bump is no more the dress will hang well and see me through my breastfeeding journey too!

I’ve washed it a couple of times too, and even though I only wash at 30% it has come out as good as new, still super soft and has kept its shape with no bobbling either! It’s already had a lot of compliments in real life and on instagram too!

Frugi (meaning ‘fruit of the earth’ in Latin) is a UK company founded by a couple who couldn’t find a good enough range of clothes to fit round their babies cloth-bum! From there it expanded to old children’s clothes and then clothes for pregnancy and nursing mothers too! Their range is made from organic cotton, is sustainably sourced and are a ‘1% for the planet’ member, meaning that they give back 1% off all profits to sustainability initiatives.

Here are a few of the super cute baby clothes available, definitely adding these to the ‘to buy for baby’ list! Definitely worth checking out if you’ve a new one on the way, or as a new baby gift, and as I mentioned earlier everything is cut with a ‘cloth nappy’ in mind so no too tight trousers!

Thank you to Frugi who kindly let me choose a dress for the purpose of this review.

  1. Wish I had known frugi did maternity dresses when I was expecting – I do have a couple of their nursing tops though – they are brilliant quality
