Novie Robot Review

Meet Novie – a pint sized robot with a happy face that  will entertain the whole family, and now Arlo’s favourite toy. STEM  toys are becoming more and more popular and  they’re great for encouraging kids to think about what they’re playing with, use logic to  make decisions and find out more about how things work.  Novie is great for expanding little minds as  there are so many different play options!

Novie is ready to go as soon as unpack him, and  batteries are included!  There is an on/off switch on the base and then just  one little button on the top which lets you go through  through the play modes. To start with  you can get used to  controlling Novie with hand movements. His face has sensors that pick up movement  in front of him   with 2 inches being the  optimal distance.

Once you’ve got used to interacting with Novie  you can press the button on his head to move to beginner mode – so he has blue eyes. The accompanying booklet shows you all the different hand gestures to use to get different actions  to occur. Novie also makes sounds as well as whole heap of movements!  I won’t give them all away here but  ‘Fartnado’ is a fun one in advanced mode!

At  four Arlo has mastered all the beginner moves and is learning the next level up, Intermediate (with green eyes).  Athena and Sam are practising the advanced level  (white  eyes)  and   are loving watching Novie do some pretty cool moves and sounds! I love it when he does wheelies! The more you do a move with Novie the better he gets at it. Something we’ve not tried out is getting him to interact with other Novies,   but this is something you can do if you have friends with a Novie too.

Available in Blue, Red & purple   from *Amazon, Argos and other retailers Novie retails around £18.99 and even though he’s  small he’s great value for money for the technology and entertainment  factor.  He’s also incredibly easy to transport too, as well as being pretty cute!
