Scrapbook Loves May 2019

I feel like I say this every month but this one SHOT by, I think because of the bank holidays, short weeks and school holidays – plus us going away twice, once to Jersey and a weekend with friends and BAM it’s practically June!

Here’s what I’ve been enjoying this month…

Read

what i read in may

All these books had a female protagonist, and they were all about family one way or another. I keep managing to serendipitously theme the books I read each month – but I’m not complaining!

The Promise – Teresa Driscoll was a bit all over the place, with too many plot twists and most of which were fairly obvious. Not a bad read but not as good as the others.

The Perfect Child – heartbreaking and scary in different ways this book tells the story of a family who really want a child, then when one is practically dropped in their laps all isn’t as easy as they assume it will be, with nasty consequences.

This is How it Always Is – I LOVED this book, I didn’t want it to end and I want a sequel as I would love to know how the family continue to grow and develop and deal with life as Poppy (who was born a boy) grows up as a girl. This novel dealt with the obvious struggles of dealing with something so emotional incredibly well.

Heartburn – Nora Ephron. This is the first of her books that I’ve read and it’s a semi autobiographical novel based and written in the 80’s but I loved that! It deals with her finding out her husband is cheating on her despite them having a toddler and her being about to have another baby. Witty and charming!

I’m not half way through my challenge, as I’ve read 30 books this year, with an aim of 60.

Watched

Not that much this month! I have been watching ‘Veep’ as a quick and easy have-it-on-in-the-background and it’s pretty amusing! It follows the life of the female vice president , and I think there are 6 seasons – episodes are short though and only 10 or 12 per season. Game of Thrones of course finished this month too, and I fell asleep in the 2nd and 3rd episodes and then couldn’t be bothered to go back and watch them again so was a bit lost but to be honest I was over it already! We finished New Amsterdam this past week too, and I’m hoping there is a new season!

Dead to Me in Netflix is good so far but I’m only a couple of episodes in, it’s funny and dark which is always a winner for me!

Heard

Still listening to my favourite podcasts – The High Low, All Killa no Filla and Criminal.

Made

As ever nothing of great interest, whatsoever!

Wore

A lot of headbands in a vain attempt to try and hide the halo of fuzzy baby hairs. Also dresses with bare legs recently too – now it’s warmer!

And Lastly…

I’ve done a bit of a makeover on the blog, it’s by no means finished and of course I started it at gone 9pm last night so crawled into bed at half past one once it was in a semi decent state… so excuse how it currently looks right now!
