So, this is Christmas 2020

24th December 2020

I’m sat in my living room three days into the Christmas holidays and I don’t think I could feel less festive if I tried. I know i’m not the only one, and in the grand scheme of things most people are far worse off than I am, as we are currently tier 2 rather than… Read More

How to: Easy Christmas Decorations from Toilet Roll Tubes

4th December 202018th December 2020

I am always looking for after school and weekend activities to keep the kids busy and off their screens for a while longer. Crafting is something both my children are super happy to get stuck into, mostly because it generally means making a bit of a mess! I’ve put together some ideas for really simple Christmas… Read More

Santa’s Circus, Panto time and other festive things!

6th December 201910th February 2020

[This post contains two gifted experiences] Is anyone else starting to feel super festive yet? Traditionally I’ve always been a bit of a bah-humbug but since I had kids I’ve started to feel festive earlier and earlier each year, and though our tree isn’t up  just yet it will be this weekend! The kids have… Read More

13th November 201910th February 2020
advent calendar filling ideas

In a bid to reduce waste and give useful gifts this year will be the second year we’ve used  a ‘fill your own’ advent calendar. Last year the kids shared one  (though they got a surprise each) but this year they will have their own as we have been sent a wooden light up calendar… Read More

The Christmas Tag

11th December 201810th February 2020

Seeing as Christmas is two weeks away I thought today would be a good day to answer a few Christmas questions! Polly from Our Seaside Baby tagged me to answer the questions below… What’s your favourite Christmas Movie? It’s got to be Home Alone, but I do also have a soft spot for Love Actually!… Read More

4 Ways to Get into the Christmas Spirit

6th December 20187th December 2018

There is no time quite like Christmas. Almost everywhere you go, you are surrounded by reminders that “‘tis the season”. And yet, with such busy lives and normal to-do lists, it is all too easy to get swept away and distracted by daily life that you could miss out on getting into the festive spirit.… Read More

Christmas at Marwell 2018

21st November 201810th February 2020
#christmas at Marwell Zoo, Hampshire. The Christmas experience includes an interactive story, mince pies, crafts and a visit and gift from Father Christmas

A few days ago we got right into the festive spirit with a trip to Marwell Zoo for their Christmas Experience. It didn’t disappoint and was the perfect way to kick start the Christmas season, though I definitely will not be putting up our decorations until December don’t you worry! Both Athena’s school and Arlo’s… Read More

Personalised Calendars & Cards with Funky Pigeon & win £25 credit!

14th November 201810th February 2020

I love giving personalised calendars as gifts because it’s something that will be used daily, and is a lovely way to remind the recipient of what you all look like if you don’t see them often! We send them to grand parents, aunts and uncles and sometimes god parents too. For the first time I’ve… Read More

Happy Christmas!

25th December 2017

Merry Christmas! I hope you all had a wonderful day, and continue to have a lovely Christmas break, if you’re fortunate enough to have one! We’ve had a lovely quiet day, mostly because Athena is pretty under the weather (you can tell she wasn’t really feeling a family photo on Christmas eve and just wanted… Read More

Top Tips for Sending Beautiful Gifts Abroad This Year

14th November 201710th February 2020

There are two types of people in the world; those that bestow gifts which look like they’ve fallen straight out of a magazine, and the rest of the population that are still struggling with sticky tape and string (that’s me normally!) It’s not hard to see that a beautifully wrapped present is a gift in itself,… Read More

Much as I love 'jumper season' I'm over this frost Much as I love 'jumper season' I'm over this frost. Our boiler sounds like it's struggling as it whines more than Arlo does when he hasn't eaten in an hour. Much like the rest of you I imagine, I'm feeling a bit numb and fed up right now. I also can't shake this cold/cough (been tested, not covid) and it's been lingering for 3+ weeks now. I fall asleep at the drop of a hat too, like a little old lady and find it hard to get up in the mornings. I just want spring time, normality energy and clear nasal passages IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK?

I've been outside more today than I have for the f I've been outside more today than I have for the for past week. We've basically been hibernating since Christmas eve apart from the odd trip to the shop up the road. Today I walked round Devils Dyke with a friend early in the morning and then went to the beach in the afternoon for the kids to let off some steam. The sun setting was gorgeous and it made me realise I'd missed the sea as I'd not been in ages! Anyway, one more day at home tomorrow (inset day for us!) And hopefully back to school Tuesday but we'll see. For us its the right decision as my children thrive on routine, and I thrive on being able to work without distraction or having to try and teach them!

Happy New Year!

Is this the first year I didn't get a book for Christmas? Should we actually leave the house at some point? Can I be bothered to stay up and ring in the new year? When will we be able to see our friends? How long will tier 4 last? Will there be a 5? How many cups of tea have I had today? When will the cat stop attacking our ankles? Is it okay to take the tree down today? But can I leave the lights up round the picture rail forever?

Answers on a postcard please. Hope you're all okay.
