Recipe: Skyr Yoghurt & Granola Parfait

25th July 201610th February 2020

As we’re told from a young age Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, unfortunately it is the meal I have the least energy to prepare. I’m working with Arla to put together seven easy breakfast recipes to try and revive our mornings with things that are fun and different from the normal… Read More

Recipe: Pepper Pots #ItsPepperTime

19th May 201610th February 2020
its peppertime

Trying to make food fun is something we tend to do a lot of at home, not only trying new foods and flavours but also getting Athena involved in the preparation too! Stuffed peppers or ‘pepper pots’ are a really fun and easy way to prepare a tasty meal that incorporates a lot of different… Read More

Recipe: Slow Cooker Carnitas with Schwartz

23rd April 201610th February 2020

I am so happy that we have a larger kitchen now, it means I have the space to really focus on devising and creating meals for us to enjoy as a family, and am really focussing on making meals that I can cook and freeze in batches but that we can all help ourselves to… Read More

Recipe: Spiced Pumpkin Muffins

27th October 201510th February 2020
pumpkin-muffins

These muffins are just delicious, most muffins are in fact but seeing as it’s almost halloween and Sam bought a tin of pumpkin filling at the supermarket a few months ago I thought I would try something a bit pumpkiny! I adapted my go-to muffin recipe but doubled the quantities to allow for moistness of… Read More

#AsdaMeatUp & Apple and Cheddar burger recipe

12th September 201510th February 2020

So I probably win the award for the latest post about the most amazing Thursday night I’ve had in a long time, the #AsdaMeatup a few weeks back to celebrate National Burger Day with a BBQ courtesy of Asda. A big yellow bus (okay, two as there were so many of us) chugged us all… Read More

Recipe: Horlicks Brownies & win goodies! [ended]

3rd September 201510th February 2020

I first tasted Horlicks when I was around five, and was staying at my Granny’s up in Cambridgeshire, and it’s one of the earliest memories I have of spending time with her (along with watching her clip her suspenders into her suspender belt and wondering why she didn’t wear tights like my mum!) She used… Read More

Recipe: Easy Waffles

20th February 201510th February 2020

So most people have been consuming pancakes in large amounts over the last week, but here in this house it’s been waffles! Sweet ones, savoury ones, ones with bananas and others with just plain old sugar and lemon… with the addition of our newest kitchen gadget the Waffle Maker from Domu making waffles is actually… Read More

Curry Week with The Spice Tailor

17th October 201410th February 2020

I love Indian food, I think it stems from the days when I used to stay over at my first boyfriends flat which happened to be just above an okay-ish curry restaurant, but ordering from there was better than cheese and ham toasties every night! Then I moved into a pub that was just across… Read More

Much as I love 'jumper season' I'm over this frost Much as I love 'jumper season' I'm over this frost. Our boiler sounds like it's struggling as it whines more than Arlo does when he hasn't eaten in an hour. Much like the rest of you I imagine, I'm feeling a bit numb and fed up right now. I also can't shake this cold/cough (been tested, not covid) and it's been lingering for 3+ weeks now. I fall asleep at the drop of a hat too, like a little old lady and find it hard to get up in the mornings. I just want spring time, normality energy and clear nasal passages IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK?

I've been outside more today than I have for the f I've been outside more today than I have for the for past week. We've basically been hibernating since Christmas eve apart from the odd trip to the shop up the road. Today I walked round Devils Dyke with a friend early in the morning and then went to the beach in the afternoon for the kids to let off some steam. The sun setting was gorgeous and it made me realise I'd missed the sea as I'd not been in ages! Anyway, one more day at home tomorrow (inset day for us!) And hopefully back to school Tuesday but we'll see. For us its the right decision as my children thrive on routine, and I thrive on being able to work without distraction or having to try and teach them!

Happy New Year!

What day is it? What's the date? Pass the tin of c What day is it? What's the date? Pass the tin of celebrations please? When did Arlo get so good at putting Lego sets together on his own? Is this the first year I didn't get a book for Christmas? Should we actually leave the house at some point? Can I be bothered to stay up and ring in the new year? When will we be able to see our friends? How long will tier 4 last? Will there be a 5? How many cups of tea have I had today? When will the cat stop attacking our ankles? Is it okay to take the tree down today? But can I leave the lights up round the picture rail forever?

Answers on a postcard please. Hope you're all okay.
Walking in a winter-muddy-land. So this is Christm Walking in a winter-muddy-land. So this is Christmas. Tier 4 beckons on boxing day for us and so many others, which has rather scuppered our plans to meet up with friends for outside strolls in that bit between Christmas and New Year. So we're doing it today instead whilst its still allowed. Amazingly Sam has five days off work now, although he may well do some overtime at some point seeing as he's at home anyway 😒
I hope everyone has the best day they can despite it being the weirdest Christmas at the end of the strangest year. HO HO HO and all that! 🎄🤶🎅🎁
