All I’m seeing on social media is memes about  how January was 1387  days long, oh and also  Harry & Megan moving and brexit chat. Anyway for me  the month seems to have  flown by probably because we were on countdown to holiday, getting the kids and the house ready for Grandma who  was looking… Read More

3 ways to love DIY

17th January 202027th February 2020

This is a collaborative post. People are always looking for new ways to be frugal, and one way that many look to cut costs is to become skilled at performing repairs and other home tasks on their own. Simply put, if you can plug a leak or paint a wall  instead of getting an expert… Read More

This is a collaborative post. ‘Curb appeal’ is increasingly becoming an important aspect of a property’s overall value. Over the last decade works to improve the exterior of your home have become much simpler and far more cost-effective. Due to the awareness of climate change and the need to improve our carbon footprint, new green… Read More

Planning a No Spend – our rules

15th January 202015th January 2020
NO SPEND YEAR RULES

After Christmas    Sam and I decided that we would  try a ‘No Spend’ year. Yep – not spending anything for the entire of 2020.  However there have to be some rules to follow, and exceptions to be made  – because of course we need to eat! So here is how we think it will… Read More

Santa’s Circus, Panto time and other festive things!

6th December 201910th February 2020

[This post contains two gifted experiences] Is anyone else starting to feel super festive yet? Traditionally I’ve always been a bit of a bah-humbug but since I had kids I’ve started to feel festive earlier and earlier each year, and though our tree isn’t up  just yet it will be this weekend! The kids have… Read More

Bosh, another month has flown past and we’re on the countdown to a new decade. How crazy! Here’s my roundup of bits and bobs from the last month… Made I’ve been doing some more baking, as  always happens when it’s dark and miserable  in the Winter!   So far just cupcakes and cookies but  I’d love to buy … Read More

Ad|gifted🃏🦗🌈 We've been playing #Mantis a Ad|gifted🃏🦗🌈 We've been playing #Mantis a lot recently, it's a new game but has quickly become a firm favourite, with us and the friends we've played it with.

Each game lasts around 10 minutes so it's great to play whilst dinners cooking, but you might want to carry on during dinner as it's a little addictive and you'll end up playing a few rounds 🎉

The aim of the game is to score ten points first by collecting sets of coloured cards. Easy right!? No, because other players can sabotage you and steal your cards for themselves (but, you might have the chance to steal them back!)

It's really easy to pick up and Arlo managed to beat us all on his first time playing 🤪 another plus is that's it's very portable and you don't need too much space to play, so perfect to take to friends houses, restaurants and on holiday!

It's from the team who bought us #ExplodingKittens and you can purchase this and other games from explodingkittens.com 💥

Determined to switch off this weekend, I've been flat out at work for the past two weeks & worked a lot of last weekend too. The problem (which is also a positive) with working freelance is that you can do it anytime but it doesn't necessarily mean you should 🤪
We're spending time with friends, doing some gardening and hopefully some cross stitch on the new garden sofa I spent hours putting together yesterday!

The one time I can (almost) guarantee no squabbling, no asking for snacks and potentially even to be left alone is at the beach.
I didn't bring swimming stuff, a change of clothes or sandals but that didn't stop them going for a swim!

I saw someone say the other day on here that they I saw someone say the other day on here that they found Gardening the most dull thing ever. A year ago I would've agreed, but had never had my own garden as an adult. I'd either lived in a pub (a gardener came and did our windowboxes) or flats with no outside space. When we moved in here there was no grass and a massive shed in the middle of the garden-literally in the middle, 3 feet away from the back wall too 🤪 there was also no flower bed. Sam and I have worked hard since we moved in, making this long planter, and pulling up patio slabs to sow some grass seed. I've got seedlings growing and am planning a mini rockery too. So no, gardening is not dull to me now. I really enjoy it! I'll share more of the garden when the grass has grown and I've planted some more flowers!
