Brighton: The Sportsman Crown Carvery

23rd January 201610th February 2020

The ‘night before we go away’ rush is a familiar one, but normally we’re scraping together a mish mash meal of whatever is left in the fridge, but not this time! As a reward for finally finishing the packing we headed off to The Sportsman in Brighton for a meal together before an early night… Read More

Meat Liquor Brighton – not just for carnivores!

13th February 201510th February 2020

Last week I spent an evening gorging myself at Meat Liquor, sadly without the liquor as I’m fairly heavily pregnant! But hey, eating for two meant I could scoff away to my hearts content and not feel guilty. Despite the name Meat Liquor actually does cater for vegetarians and vegans too, and in our party… Read More

Dining out: Earl of March, Chichester

10th October 201410th February 2020

On Sunday Sam and I had a delicious meal out at the Earl of March in Lavant, just north of Chichester. A gorgeous location overlooking the rolling hills of the Downs, this homely restaurant was the perfect place to spend a leisurely baby free evening!    The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, and had… Read More

#Dinefor10 at The Courtyard

27th January 201410th February 2020

Although I had a birthday dinner planned for Saturday night I wanted to have lunch with Sam and Athena on my actual birthday.  The Argus are currently running their amazing dine for £10 offer, so we had a browse through the booklet and picked Coast, I called and asked to book a table for… Read More

In which I eat at The Coal Shed

6th February 201310th February 2020

A couple of days before my birthday Sam and I went out for a meal, as his boss had given him £100 to spend as a Christmas bonus (and because he had to work the event where the rest of his events team were rewarded!) so we decided to pick a restaurant that was… Read More

Food for Friends

17th September 201210th February 2020

Last Tuesday after a long old day at work I met up with my friend Yasmin and trotted off to Food for Friends, which  is Brighton’s Original Vegetarian restaurant, and has been open since 1981!!! Although it was a Tuesday the restaurant filled up fairly quickly, but we had a great table in the window… Read More

In which I get foody 2

15th January 201210th February 2020

A photo diary of good food, from the last MONTH (I know.. slacker right?) If food doesn’t interest you, then I suggest you skip this post! China china (Preston street)  Perfect for cheap but GOOD Chinese food, and normally I am in the minority when eating here, so if the local Chinese student contingent swarm… Read More

🍰 Sam treated me to a big box cakes for my birt 🍰 Sam treated me to a big box cakes for my birthday, dropped off by a courier 🥳 If you can't get out for an afternoon tea then this is the next best thing!
It's been a very quiet birthday but after the year we've had it wouldn't have been anything else would it? I just keep thinking back to birthdays past, NYC last year, Germany, South Africa, the Alps, Canary Islands and Czech Republic... hopefully I'll be able to escape for my birthday again in the future! ✈⛵🚄 I miss travelling.

We would've done another walk today (Sam had a day off today too) but our boiler is kaput and we didn't want to come home to a cold house so we stayed in and shivered on the sofa instead!
Also before you come at me for getting in the car to drive to exercise: we live in a flat with no garden on a busy road- we could walk to the beach but I can guarantee we would have seen LOTS of people on pavements on the way and then hundreds (literally - the prom is so busy!) at the beach. Much as I love 'jumper season' I'm over this frost Much as I love 'jumper season' I'm over this frost. Our boiler sounds like it's struggling as it whines more than Arlo does when he hasn't eaten in an hour. Much like the rest of you I imagine, I'm feeling a bit numb and fed up right now. I also can't shake this cold/cough (been tested, not covid) and it's been lingering for 3+ weeks now. I fall asleep at the drop of a hat too, like a little old lady and find it hard to get up in the mornings. I just want spring time, normality energy and clear nasal passages IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK?

I've been outside more today than I have for the f I've been outside more today than I have for the for past week. We've basically been hibernating since Christmas eve apart from the odd trip to the shop up the road. Today I walked round Devils Dyke with a friend early in the morning and then went to the beach in the afternoon for the kids to let off some steam. The sun setting was gorgeous and it made me realise I'd missed the sea as I'd not been in ages! Anyway, one more day at home tomorrow (inset day for us!) And hopefully back to school Tuesday but we'll see. For us its the right decision as my children thrive on routine, and I thrive on being able to work without distraction or having to try and teach them!

Happy New Year!
