This Lockdown Life

6th February 2021

This time last year I was heading back from America, where Sam and I spent 5 glorious child free days in New York, our first kid free holiday ever. And boy have we made up for it by spending the next 365 days with our kids 24/7 practically, bar the time when they were actually… Read More

How to choose the right childcare for your family

14th October 201910th February 2020
Choosing childcare that works for your family

This   post is written in collaboration with childcare.co.uk, all words and opinions are my own. We have used a few different types of childcare  over the years, from a private nursery to a child-minder, preschools and  after school club. Childcare.co.uk is such a useful resource for finding the childcare you need and you can find… Read More

Things I used to believe when I was a kid

6th June 20174th June 2017
things-i-used-to-believe

Some of the things Athena comes out with make me chuckle, and then wonder what I used to think about things at her age. I remember thinking a few odd things when I was a kid so thought I’d share some of them The world was black and white until colour was invented See my… Read More

Would I terminate a pregnancy with a Downs Syndrome baby?

6th October 201610th February 2020

I, like many parents I expect, watched Sally Phillips last night on BBC’s A World without Downs. I had heard her chatting on the Scummie Mummies podcast a couple of weeks ago about her family life and the program, and why she wanted to make it. Sally has three sons, one of whom, Olly, has… Read More

Two under two, it’s not that hard…

1st May 201510th February 2020

… apart from when it is really sodding difficult! The first month with two under two went something like this… Week One: Glorious. Those new baby hazy days… snuggles, feeding, having a toddler who is excited by the new baby and a husband who is on paternity leave and who prepares two cooked meals a… Read More

Things I am looking forward to this year

2nd March 201510th February 2020

I meant to write a post like this at the start of the year, but then things got in the way and suddenly we’ve just started the third month of the year! Sometimes I get a bit overwhelmed thinking about the future, how will I cope with two babies under 2 years old. How will… Read More

Thoughts: Body Confidence

27th July 201410th February 2020
body-confidence

I can’t work out whether I am more or less body confident than I was pre-baby. I think I am more confident, well, most of the time. My body is definitely different, I have bigger boobs and a saggier belly. My legs are much the same size wise but I have faint stretch marks on my… Read More

My blogging history and tips for new bloggers

15th July 201410th February 2020

I started blogging publicly on Blogger in 2011. My online presence started way before that though with a Diaryland diary, then moving to Live Journal in 2000. Sadly that is no longer available as I didn’t log in for over two years, I would’ve shared a few teenage-angsty posts otherwise! I began reading blogs and… Read More

Ad|gifted🃏🦗🌈 We've been playing #Mantis a Ad|gifted🃏🦗🌈 We've been playing #Mantis a lot recently, it's a new game but has quickly become a firm favourite, with us and the friends we've played it with.

Each game lasts around 10 minutes so it's great to play whilst dinners cooking, but you might want to carry on during dinner as it's a little addictive and you'll end up playing a few rounds 🎉

The aim of the game is to score ten points first by collecting sets of coloured cards. Easy right!? No, because other players can sabotage you and steal your cards for themselves (but, you might have the chance to steal them back!)

It's really easy to pick up and Arlo managed to beat us all on his first time playing 🤪 another plus is that's it's very portable and you don't need too much space to play, so perfect to take to friends houses, restaurants and on holiday!

It's from the team who bought us #ExplodingKittens and you can purchase this and other games from explodingkittens.com 💥

Jumping into the weekend 🤸🤸🏼‍♀️ Det Jumping into the weekend 🤸🤸🏼‍♀️
Determined to switch off this weekend, I've been flat out at work for the past two weeks & worked a lot of last weekend too. The problem (which is also a positive) with working freelance is that you can do it anytime but it doesn't necessarily mean you should 🤪
We're spending time with friends, doing some gardening and hopefully some cross stitch on the new garden sofa I spent hours putting together yesterday!

The one time I can (almost) guarantee no squabbling, no asking for snacks and potentially even to be left alone is at the beach.
I didn't bring swimming stuff, a change of clothes or sandals but that didn't stop them going for a swim!

I saw someone say the other day on here that they I saw someone say the other day on here that they found Gardening the most dull thing ever. A year ago I would've agreed, but had never had my own garden as an adult. I'd either lived in a pub (a gardener came and did our windowboxes) or flats with no outside space. When we moved in here there was no grass and a massive shed in the middle of the garden-literally in the middle, 3 feet away from the back wall too 🤪 there was also no flower bed. Sam and I have worked hard since we moved in, making this long planter, and pulling up patio slabs to sow some grass seed. I've got seedlings growing and am planning a mini rockery too. So no, gardening is not dull to me now. I really enjoy it! I'll share more of the garden when the grass has grown and I've planted some more flowers!
