What the Kids Read: Everybody Farts & Superheroes

10th July 201710th February 2020
what the kids read

There are a few books in rotation this month in our house, a few the kids like to read together and a few personal favourites from both kids. They’ve both got more interested in books, and instead of a pre-bedtime session with a few books, we often read them after breakfast or at points during… Read More

What the Kids Read: May faves & Monster Party

3rd June 201723rd February 2020
what the kids read

For the past few weeks the kids have been reading these three books on rotation. Well, they can’t actually read – so I’ve been reading to them and they’ve been looking at the pictures and reciting along where they’ve picked up the words! You can’t go wrong with Shirley Hughes books – they’re always just… Read More

What the Kids Read: Mibo Animal Board Books

7th March 201710th February 2020
mibo board books

We reviewed the gorgeous Hardback (or ‘for best’ as Athena calls them) Mibo Books a while ago, and although we do read them quite often we have to be so careful as Arlo is still in the destructive phase and I don’t want anything to happen to the ‘best’ books! But now he can look… Read More

What the kids read at Christmas

16th December 201610th February 2020
kids christmas books

I’ve got a nice little collection of christmassy books for the kids, enough to fill the little bookcase which was a surprise when I had a sort through and got them all out! We’ve been reading one or two before bed each nice for the last few weeks and three seem to be getting picked… Read More

What the kids read: Personalised book – Incredible Intergalactic Journey

24th October 201610th February 2020
incredible intergalactic journey home

I absolutely love to find personalised books for my kids, I think it adds so much to their enjoyment (okay, Arlo doesn’t really understand yet but Athena definitely does!) and when I found out about the new book from the people who brought us ‘the little girl who lost her name’ books. I was really… Read More

What the Kids read: Books about animals

19th October 201610th February 2020

This months favourite books are all animal related, purely coincidentally though!   This Is NOT a Catย By David LaRochelle, illustrated by Mike Wohnoutka Set in ‘mouse school’ this book cleverly only uses the five words from the title, the rest of the story is told purely through the fun pictures to show the little mice… Read More

Little Buttons Activity book

12th October 201610th February 2020

There’s no denying that the days are drawing in and soon we’ll be turning clocks back to eke out some extra daylight, it’s the time of year where I like to line up some fun indoor activities for the kids so I can spend less time freezing in the park watching them hurtle about apparently… Read More

What the Kids Read: Bedtime Stories Castles

22nd August 201610th February 2020
miles kelly books

I love a good bedtime story, and now Arlo is a little older we tend to read one together with Athena on the sofa as he’s too heavy to hold and read if we go into Athena’s room and if I leave him to his own devices on her mid-sleeper he tries to go backwards… Read More

21st June 201610th February 2020

We’ve had a few new books this month as Athena got quite a few for her birthday and we also received some for her to review too. I’ll be doing another kids book post next week too with some more bedtime orientated books but this post is mostly about learning books but there is a… Read More

Beautiful blue skies from earlier in the week. Aru Beautiful blue skies from earlier in the week. Arundel castle is somewhere I've lived close to for my whole life, yet had only ever visited as a very small child. This week I visited the gardens with a friend and absolutely loved it, and will definitely be back to visit the castle itself. The glimpse I saw when we had tea a d scones in the restaurant was gorgeous!

I'm trying to make a reel by instasham keeps glitching and I can't add music, so maybe you'll see it and maybe you won't ๐Ÿ™„

After another really busy week I'm switching off for the weekend to celebrate a friend's birthday tomorrow and out for a stroll on Sunday ๐Ÿ™Œ

Sam did the longer 5 mile run along the sand whilst the tide was out but we walked home via the shop for congratulatory ice creams instead of waiting for him as it was well past bedtime by that point!

Ad|gifted๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฆ—๐ŸŒˆ We've been playing #Mantis a Ad|gifted๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฆ—๐ŸŒˆ We've been playing #Mantis a lot recently, it's a new game but has quickly become a firm favourite, with us and the friends we've played it with.

Each game lasts around 10 minutes so it's great to play whilst dinners cooking, but you might want to carry on during dinner as it's a little addictive and you'll end up playing a few rounds ๐ŸŽ‰

The aim of the game is to score ten points first by collecting sets of coloured cards. Easy right!? No, because other players can sabotage you and steal your cards for themselves (but, you might have the chance to steal them back!)

It's really easy to pick up and Arlo managed to beat us all on his first time playing ๐Ÿคช another plus is that's it's very portable and you don't need too much space to play, so perfect to take to friends houses, restaurants and on holiday!

It's from the team who bought us #ExplodingKittens and you can purchase this and other games from explodingkittens.com ๐Ÿ’ฅ

Determined to switch off this weekend, I've been flat out at work for the past two weeks & worked a lot of last weekend too. The problem (which is also a positive) with working freelance is that you can do it anytime but it doesn't necessarily mean you should ๐Ÿคช
We're spending time with friends, doing some gardening and hopefully some cross stitch on the new garden sofa I spent hours putting together yesterday!
