9th June 201610th February 2020

Animals are Delicious is a boxed set of three fold out board books, by Sarah Hutt, Dave Ladd and Stephanie Anderson. What the kids read: Submarine convertible

18th May 201610th February 2020

I am always looking for fun ways to keep the children entertained for more than 2 minutes so I can load the dishwasher/clear the table/get dressed without someone clinging to my leg and when we offered to chance to play with the new convertible submarine from Miles Kelly I thought it could be ideal, and… Read More

22nd April 201620th April 2016

It’s time I did a Parragon Book Buddy update! We’ve had some lovely books from Parragon over the last few  months and these books are all great for taking out and about as they’re board books so can withstand being carted about and being used as entertainment at restaurants etc!

What the kids read in March

9th April 201623rd February 2020

It’s so nice for Athena and I to get some time together if I can persuade Arlo nap somewhere other than on my lap, and when we do it’s a really good opportunity for us to read ‘nice books’ which are ones that we don’t want Arlo to get grabby and pully with! Athena now… Read More

What the kids read: Create Me Books

17th March 201623rd February 2020

I love personalised books and I think Athena likes them just as much as me! She has a new book and she calls it ‘the Athena book’. In fact we all call it the Athena book now, and I would bet money on it being on or near her pillow at any given time! Thankfully… Read More

What the children read: When I grow up & Crayons

11th February 201610th February 2020

Books have become and even bigger part of our lives now that Arlo is more interested in them. Athena will sometimes go and show him the pictures in a book, or point things out to him when I am reading with them both. I’ll be honest and say that I reckon he is actually more… Read More

Christmas Books from Parragon

5th December 201510th February 2020

Both Athena and Arlo got a new Christmas book last week from Parragon, for Arlo it was ‘Jingle Jingle Little Reindeer’, a cute little board book with a finger puppet reindeer for the reader to use to help the story come alive! It’s a nice catchy rhyme and the story is about helping the reindeer… Read More

1st December 201510th February 2020

I’ve got three really fun festive festive themed books for kids on the blog today, and your chance to win them too! We’ve been reading them over the past week, but I’ve not put them away till a little closer to Christmas to use as part of our book advent in December. Annoyingly when my laptop… Read More

What the Toddler read: Mickey Mouse Library

13th November 201510th February 2020

This months Parragon book is a lovely mini library of Mickey Mouse books, with their own little storage box to keep them safe in. Athena pounced on these as soon as I opened them and they’re actually sat on her bedside table now and we’re reading them as a bed time story in rotation each… Read More

5th October 201510th February 2020

So at the end of the month we have Halloween, which seems to rapidly becoming more and more celebrated over here in England! This month we’ve been reading ‘Pumpkins,  Pumpkins, Everywhere’ from Parragon books. It’s a cute story that covers feelings and emotions and actions in simple terms, in a nice rhyming way. The pages… Read More

We would've done another walk today (Sam had a day off today too) but our boiler is kaput and we didn't want to come home to a cold house so we stayed in and shivered on the sofa instead!

Much as I love 'jumper season' I'm over this frost Much as I love 'jumper season' I'm over this frost. Our boiler sounds like it's struggling as it whines more than Arlo does when he hasn't eaten in an hour. Much like the rest of you I imagine, I'm feeling a bit numb and fed up right now. I also can't shake this cold/cough (been tested, not covid) and it's been lingering for 3+ weeks now. I fall asleep at the drop of a hat too, like a little old lady and find it hard to get up in the mornings. I just want spring time, normality energy and clear nasal passages IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK?

I've been outside more today than I have for the f I've been outside more today than I have for the for past week. We've basically been hibernating since Christmas eve apart from the odd trip to the shop up the road. Today I walked round Devils Dyke with a friend early in the morning and then went to the beach in the afternoon for the kids to let off some steam. The sun setting was gorgeous and it made me realise I'd missed the sea as I'd not been in ages! Anyway, one more day at home tomorrow (inset day for us!) And hopefully back to school Tuesday but we'll see. For us its the right decision as my children thrive on routine, and I thrive on being able to work without distraction or having to try and teach them!

Happy New Year!

What day is it? What's the date? Pass the tin of c What day is it? What's the date? Pass the tin of celebrations please? When did Arlo get so good at putting Lego sets together on his own? Is this the first year I didn't get a book for Christmas? Should we actually leave the house at some point? Can I be bothered to stay up and ring in the new year? When will we be able to see our friends? How long will tier 4 last? Will there be a 5? How many cups of tea have I had today? When will the cat stop attacking our ankles? Is it okay to take the tree down today? But can I leave the lights up round the picture rail forever?

Answers on a postcard please. Hope you're all okay.
