Me and Mine June 2019

30th June 201910th February 2020

Β  This month has gone by super fast, the highlight was Athena’s birthday on the 6th, which meant lots of cake! Plus despite there being a fair amount of rain earlier in the month we actually spent a lot of time at the beach this month as well as outside with friends. Athena loved: turning… Read More

Playing in the Poppy Field

24th June 2019
poppy field

On Sunday we went for a little stroll in the countryside in the direction of the poppy field that I had seen on my way into Brighton last week. The weather suddenly got really warm and muggy, so the trek up the hill to the top was a bit slower than our usual pace but… Read More

Me and Mine in December 18

31st December 201810th February 2020

Here’s our last monthly family photo of the year… I’m keeping the first one in because I love that Athena has her eyes closed! We took these a couple of days ago on our way home from Norfolk, at a country park just off the M25 somewhere, that also happened to have a fair an… Read More

Me and Mine in November 18

Living DNA – Exploring my Ancestry

6th November 20188th April 2020
living-dna-1

Here’s a conversation I had with Athena a couple of weeks ago… “Mummy why do some other people talk in a different way to us?” “Because they come from a different country, or their parents do and they want to make sure their kids carry on speaking in their own language as well as English.”… Read More

Me and Mine in October 18

31st October 20181st November 2018

Oh blimey, yet another speedy month behind us as we hurtle ever onwards to Christmas and a new year! We took these photos the weekend before last in the middle of a country walk around Slindon, where we headed for our annual pilgrimage to see the Pumpkin display. They’re a bit nutso looking as we… Read More

30th September 201810th February 2020

Okay, I know it’s not September anymore, in fact it hasn’t been for a week now but I’ve been busy and a ‘Me and Mine’ post slipped my mind, and in fact slipped my mind throughout the month as we were so busy- this phone snap is the only complete family photo we managed to… Read More

Me and Mine in July 18

31st July 201830th July 2018
Me-and-Mine-July18

July has been a lovely month for us, but so busy too. The end of the school term, my pre-holiday panics about anything and everything (packing for this holiday, the fact that we’re away on the next one the day after we get back, how am I going to get work done with kids at… Read More

What are your kids reading? Athena's birthday lis What are your kids reading?

Athena's birthday list consists of a LOT of books this year. She keeps meticulous lists of which books of a series she's read\needs to read and will spend ages at the Library working scouring the shelves for new series to get into. She's currently loving the Storey Treehouse books and Dork Diaries.

The only issue with her sudden and very strong enthusiasm is that she'll often appear back down stairs at 9.30pm to tell us "I've finished my book" 🀣 if only she'd somehow manage to pass the bookworm bug onto Arlo via osmosis or something... πŸ“šπŸ”–πŸ“šπŸ”–

Beautiful blue skies from earlier in the week. Aru Beautiful blue skies from earlier in the week. Arundel castle is somewhere I've lived close to for my whole life, yet had only ever visited as a very small child. This week I visited the gardens with a friend and absolutely loved it, and will definitely be back to visit the castle itself. The glimpse I saw when we had tea a d scones in the restaurant was gorgeous!

I'm trying to make a reel by instasham keeps glitching and I can't add music, so maybe you'll see it and maybe you won't πŸ™„

After another really busy week I'm switching off for the weekend to celebrate a friend's birthday tomorrow and out for a stroll on Sunday πŸ™Œ

Sam did the longer 5 mile run along the sand whilst the tide was out but we walked home via the shop for congratulatory ice creams instead of waiting for him as it was well past bedtime by that point!

Ad|giftedπŸƒπŸ¦—πŸŒˆ We've been playing #Mantis a Ad|giftedπŸƒπŸ¦—πŸŒˆ We've been playing #Mantis a lot recently, it's a new game but has quickly become a firm favourite, with us and the friends we've played it with.

Each game lasts around 10 minutes so it's great to play whilst dinners cooking, but you might want to carry on during dinner as it's a little addictive and you'll end up playing a few rounds πŸŽ‰

The aim of the game is to score ten points first by collecting sets of coloured cards. Easy right!? No, because other players can sabotage you and steal your cards for themselves (but, you might have the chance to steal them back!)

It's really easy to pick up and Arlo managed to beat us all on his first time playing πŸ€ͺ another plus is that's it's very portable and you don't need too much space to play, so perfect to take to friends houses, restaurants and on holiday!

It's from the team who bought us #ExplodingKittens and you can purchase this and other games from explodingkittens.com πŸ’₯
